Packaging is the hardest surface for QR codes: curved, glossy, sometimes flexible. Print at 2 cm minimum on a flat panel, avoid the curve of a bottle or the crease of a carton, and never let varnish or shrink film run across the code. On a coloured background, keep a solid light rectangle behind the code rather than lowering contrast.
Involve your printer early and check on the real substrate: ink spread on kraft or corrugated board thickens the modules and can close the gaps. A proof on the actual material is worth more than any on-screen check.
Static or dynamic?
Dynamic is strongly recommended. Packaging runs are printed in large volumes, months ahead, and stay on shelves for years — a dynamic code lets you fix a broken link, update a manual or swap a campaign without scrapping stock.
